Professional Background

Julie is a Social Worker Counsellor and finished her Masters of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University with a Clinical Focus for Individuals, Groups and Families. She is passionate about counselling and assisting people through their life challenges and concerns. Julie uses a client-centred approach and works collaboratively with clients to achieve their personal goals. She has counselled children to the elderly for a variety of concerns: depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, bereavement, parenting, family conflict, interpersonal concerns, life transitions, recovery from illness, chronic illness, caregiver stress, work-life balance, stress management, and general personal well-being. She uses an eclectic therapeutic approach, such as, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Behaviourism, Grief Therapy and Strengths-Based Therapy. Julie also has a focus on Trauma Therapy and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

She is also a Hypnotherapist and has seen first-hand how life changing it can be in her clients’ lives! Julie has helped people quit smoking after decades of smoking; she’s helped clients with weight loss, stress, anxiety, phobias, and pain management. She also focused her training in past life regression and life between lives for additional healing benefits. Many women have benefited from using hypnosis during their pregnancy and labour with Julie.  She is also a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Julie has been in the complementary field for many years and is also a Reiki Practitioner. She lives a healthy life style using healthy products and nutrition. In her spare time, Julie enjoys being out in nature, being around animals, meditation, yoga, running, weight-lifting, and has a life-long passion for studying therapeutic techniques. She lives her life mindfully and embraces the beauty of living in the present moment.
